“We are evaluating whether Úbeda stays at the club,” said Marcelo Delgado, within 72 hours of Boca Juniors’ Clausura semi-final exit to Racing, speaking to Radio La Red.

“We are analysing that in permanent meetings with the president. We are evaluating everything beyond Claudio’s continuity, from pre-season planning and reinforcements to possible departures, and more than 20 players returning from loans.”

Early signals had pointed towards the coach staying, yet Delgado’s comments suggest the matter is not settled.

A meeting with Juan Román Riquelme remains scheduled to determine the manager’s fate. The president could offer continuity and propose adding an assistant coach of his choosing.

The substitution of Exequiel Zeballos against Racing drew scrutiny. “With hindsight, people draw conclusions. Úbeda acknowledged Zeballos was tired.”

The coming days are set to be decisive in confirming whether Úbeda continues or whether Boca choose a different direction.
