Marcelo Moreno close to Oriente Petrolero return for career swansong

Marcelo Moreno, 38, is preparing for the final act of his career, with the 2013 Flamengo Copa do Brasil winner close to playing for Oriente Petrolero.

He came through the Bolivian club’s academy and had vowed to represent them again before retiring. Reports in Bolivia say he will play without taking a salary.

The plan also serves to keep him ready for the national team, which is still chasing a place at the 2026 World Cup via the play-offs.

While Moreno heads home, Flamengo are trying to turn their season around. In the Brasileirão, the Rubro-Negro are yet to win, and a decisive test awaits in the Carioca.

On Saturday, 07, Flamengo face Sampaio Corrêa in the final round of the Carioca, with kick-off at 21:00 Brasília time at the Maracanã.
