Enzo Le Fée has signed a new Sunderland deal to 2031, and Marco Gabbiadini believes the midfielder’s impact has been decisive since arriving on Wearside.

"But when he gets on that football field he wants to express himself, he wants to be on the ball playing those killer passes which quite often just slice open defences. So a huge asset for us," he told BBC Radio Newcastle.

"His signing, for me, was a real turning point in the club’s progress. It was a huge signing. The fee that he’d gone to [previous club] Roma for was huge, and you could see from that what kind of player they were going to get."

"Is he going to be here for the next four years? I really hope so, but if he carries on on the trajectory that he’s on at the moment, it would mean that the club would have to constantly be in those European spots, season in, season out."
