Marco Palestra ‘to sign for’ Chelsea in €57 million deal

Marco Palestra is expected to sign for Chelsea, according to Sky Sports Italy.

The 21-year-old Atalanta right-back, capped twice by Italy, spent last season on loan at Cagliari.

The move is expected to cost €57 million, with a further €3 million in bonuses.

He is expected to agree a contract running to 2032. If completed, the transfer would make him the second most expensive Italian in Premier League history, behind Sandro Tonali’s €60 million switch from AC Milan to Newcastle in July 2023.

His medical is expected on Friday. Palestra had also been linked with Inter Milan and was present as Italy lost their World Cup play-off to Bosnia and Herzegovina.
