Marco Rose has selected AFC Bournemouth’s 21-man Europa League league-phase squad, with summer arrival Juanlu Sanchez and winger Ben Gannon-Doak omitted.

Other omissions are goalkeeper Fraser Forster, right backs Julian Araujo and Max Aarons, centre back Veljko Milosavljevic and striker Daniel Jebbison. According to Bournemouth Echo, UEFA squad rules limited Bournemouth’s list, stipulating four club-trained players in a 25 and eight locally trained, with no more than four association trained.

A club-trained player is one registered with the club for three seasons between the ages of 15 and 21. Rose has expressed delight at keeping his core together, including midfielder Alex Scott.

It is understood Rose has rewarded those who secured last season’s qualification and players with longer service. If Bournemouth reach the knockout stages, they may register up to three additions on 4 February, on a three-in, three-out basis under the same rules.
