Marco Silva on alert! Xabi Alonso tracks Benfica mainstay | OneFootball

Benfica are facing strong Premier League pressure for Tomás Araújo, with several English clubs closely monitoring the centre-back. The Portugal international has come onto the radar of top clubs in English football.

According to the British press, namely TEAMtalk, Chelsea, managed by Xabi Alonso, are among the clubs most interested in the 24-year-old player. Man United have also started paying closer attention to the player’s progress following his performance against Milan.

The list of interested clubs does not stop with the two English giants, however. Tottenham, Newcastle and Brighton are also said to be tracking the Portugal international and have watched the player during the last month of competition in Portugal.

The situation becomes even more significant given the importance Tomás Araújo has taken on for Marco Silva. The defender has been a regular presence in Benfica’s starting XI, following António Silva’s departure to Bournemouth last summer.
