Miguel Figueiredo will join Benfica’s pre-season group, giving the 17-year-old midfielder a chance to impress new head coach Marco Silva. A place in the 2026/27 first-team squad is being considered if he convinces in training.
Record reports that Silva has been encouraged by the information gathered on Figueiredo and wants to assess him up close during the early sessions.
Figueiredo is expected to sign a new deal once he turns 18, mirroring pathways taken by José Neto, Daniel Banjaqui and Anísio Cabral. Until then he can only be registered on short amateur agreements. His current contract is listed through 2028.
The midfielder joined Benfica in 2020 from Casa do Benfica de Estarreja and is regarded as a leading Seixal prospect. Last season he made 42 appearances across age groups, scoring four goals with one assist, mostly for the B team.
Silva has several midfield options available, although movement in the market could change the picture. Enzo Barrenechea has been linked with a possible departure, which could create further room in the middle.
Benfica return on 25 June, with a number of senior players still away on World Cup duty. In response, Silva has named an expanded group of academy talents to start the first days of preparation.
