Marco Silva ‘to reject’ renewal as Benfica move remains distant | OneFootball

Marco Silva is preparing to meet his English club on 27 May, a decision that could shape Benfica’s pursuit of the 48-year-old.

Record reports that the talks are set for today and says he is expected to reject a renewal proposal. He is then due to travel to Portugal for a Rádio Renascença conference on 28 May.

No meeting is scheduled between Benfica and Silva today or for the rest of the week. Benfica view him as their preferred candidate, yet the situation is not advanced.

Benfica must first resolve José Mourinho’s exit, with his return to Real Madrid on hold because of the club’s elections.

In Silva’s circle, Benfica’s terms are thought not to have met expectations. If the SAD do not make a more attractive offer, they risk him rejecting a move.
