Barcelona have been rewarded for their decision to sign Marcus Rashford on a season-long loan from Manchester United this summer. The Englishman was deemed surplus to requirements by the Red Devils head coach Ruben Amorim within two months of his arrival at the Theatre of Dreams.

Rashford was shipped off on a six-month loan in January to Aston Villa, where he registered four goals and six assists in 17 games in all competitions.

It was not enough to convince Amorim, who was looking for a complete revamp of his attack before the start of the new season. The Catalans, who were also linked to the 28 year old in January, returned to the table and offered the player a respite from his Old Trafford nightmare.

Rashford, in turn, has vindicated the LaLiga champions’ trust in him.

A new lease of life in Spain

Rashford has enjoyed a new lease of life in Spain and has already earned Hansi Flick’s trust. The Englishman has made 21 appearances for Barcelona so far, 14 of which have been starts, and has registered six goals and 11 assists.

The German manager is pleased with the player’s efforts so far, and lavished him with praise following this week’s 2-1 Champions League win over Eintracht Frankfurt.

The situation has prompted talk of a possible permanent stay at Camp Nou, as the Catalans have a €30 million purchase option in his loan deal.

While there is considerable interest in his signature, a recent report relayed by The Peoples Person states that Rashford has his heart set on a permanent stay at Barcelona. The Englishman has now shed light on his experience with the Spanish giants so far.

Rashford not feeling the pressure at Camp Nou

Speaking to BBC, Rashford insisted that he does not feel pressure to deliver at Camp Nou. He said: “I don’t see anything here as like a pressure. It’s just, I’m here to play football. It’s been amazing. I feel welcome, I feel at home. I’ve just been enjoying every step of the way.”

The Englishman went on to add that he is enjoying the learning the learning curve in Spain. He said: “It’s different, but it’s a great learning curve for me. And even little things, I’ve not done it completely yet, but learning the language and stuff like that, learning the culture, it’s all enjoyable for me.”

“It’s a new language of football. I’ve always been, like many people in the world, an admirer of Spanish football. To play for the biggest club in Spain is a huge honour. I’m looking forward to playing more games here, just doing my best and try to help the team to win.”

The player also revealed that he simply wants to win with the Catalans, adding: “It’s a club that demands this. The environment is always pushing us to be the best players we can be so it’s perfect to be in a place like this as a player.”

Rashford has scored 138 goals and set up 78 more in 426 appearances across all competitions for United since breaking into the first team under former manager Louis van Gaal. However, it appears that he may have played his last game for the Premier League giants.

Final Thoughts

Rashford showed tremendous promise after rising through the ranks at Old Trafford, but endured a prolonged dip since the start of the 2023/24 campaign. However, his talent was never in question, so his recent redemption may work to the benefit of all parties.

The player’s possible exit from the Theatre of Dreams could also help United’s finances as they prepare to further invest in the squad in 2026.
