Marcus Rashford left Manchester United this summer to join Barcelona on loan following a fallout with Ruben Amorim.

The Englishman, who scored the first goal of the Portuguese manager’s reign, was deemed surplus to requirements by December 2024 and initially moved to Aston Villa on a temporary deal in January.

By the end of the season, the Red Devils were already planning for attacking reinforcements, and Rashford was no longer part of their plans.

The 28 year old completed a move to Camp Nou instead this summer and has been a revelation so far.

A key figure under Hansi Flick

Rashford has been a regular in Barcelona’s starting XI this season and has already registered 17 appearances in all competitions, including 13 starts.

Despite his spectacular resurgence in Spain, the Englishman is unlikely to be reintegrated into United’s first-team squad.

Amorim has already bolstered his attack by signing Benjamin Sesko, Bryan Mbeumo and Matheus Cunha this summer, and recent reports suggest that Antoine Semenyo is also on the club’s radar.

The Catalans reportedly have a £30 million purchase option in the deal, which could prove a bargain if Rashford continues his golden run.

However, a recent report relayed by The Peoples Person states that Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) are planning to hijack Barcelona’s move for Rashford. A fresh update on the situation has now emerged.

Rashford not in PSG’s plans

According to journalist Ben Jacobs, PSG are not pursuing a move for Rashford at the moment. The Parisians are eager to bolster their attack in 2026 and want to add a versatile forward to Luis Enrique’s squad.

However, the Englishman is not on the Ligue 1 champions’ agenda at the moment, so if the Old Trafford hierarchy were hoping for a bidding war next year, they are likely to be disappointed.

Final Thoughts

United are expected to invest heavily in midfield in 2026, so any funds generated from Rashford’s potential exit would aid their cause.

With the club already moving on from the Englishman, the sooner this saga ends, the better it will be for all parties involved. Should Rashford continue his good form, other suitors could enter the race at the end of the season.

That could greatly enhance United’s chances of permanently offloading their former academy graduate, who has scored 138 goals and provided 78 assists in 426 appearances for the club.
