Manchester United boss Ruben Amorim is reportedly set to recall Marcus Rashford for the club’s meeting with Newcastle later this evening.

Rashford has dominated headlines over the past few weeks amidst speculation over his future at United.

The England international was dropped from United’s matchday squad that beat Manchester City earlier this month. Amorim insisted that his decision to exclude Rashford and Alejandro Garnacho was because the pair failed to match his high standards across a number of areas.

Since then, Rashford has failed to feature in any of the subsequent matchday squads. He has not been available for selection in matches against Tottenham Hotspur, Bournemouth and Wolverhampton Wanderers.

After the defeat to Wolves, Amorim strongly suggested that Rashford was yet to show him enough to warrant being back in the team.

However, it seems this may change. According to club insider @UtdMenace on X [via GIVEMESPORT], Rashford could be back in the team for tonight’s meeting with Newcastle at Old Trafford.

It’s understood that Rashford’s recall is mostly because several players are absent.

Bruno Fernandes and Manuel Ugarte are both suspended for the match. Fernandes was shown a red card in the last game while Ugarte picked up his fifth booking of the campaign.

Amorim will also not be able to count on the services of a number of injured players including Luke Shaw, Victor Lindelof and Mason Mount.

It remains to be seen whether Rashford starts on the bench or is thrust into the starting XI immediately. The former appears more likely.

However, if he is afforded some minutes, the clash represents a solid opportunity for the 27-year-old to silence some of his critics and show he still has plenty to offer under Amorim.

United vs. Newcastle kicks off at 20:00 GMT.
