After a difficult spell under Ruben Amorim, Marcus Rashford has decided to jump ship in January to join Aston Villa on loan for the rest of the season.

The Portuguese was not impressed with the Mancunian’s training displays nor with his off-field life and proceeded to drop him from the Manchester derby matchday squad.

A few days after that, the Englishman dropped a bomb by claiming he wants out of his boyhood club. After a drawn-out negotiation process with Barcelona, the Carrington graduate eventually linked up with Unai Emery in Birmingham.

Many have claimed this is the 27-year-old’s last chance to prove his worth and Rashford is keen to make up for lost time as per The Sun and has the “bit firmly between his teeth” in a bid to resurrect his flailing club career.

Rashford eager to impress

Instead of taking his designated off-days, the England international came into Villa’s training ground to “shake off the cobwebs” after not playing for over a month.

He has reportedly impressed his new manager as well as his new teammates with his desire and application.

“Rashford volunteered to come in for a punishing session on Monday when he spent time in the gym and then on the training pitch: “shaking off the cobwebs”, working with individual coaches,” was how the report described his first day.

Initially it was claimed that the former United No 10 would look to travel to Bodymoor Heath for training daily from Manchester but Rashford is house hunting in West Midlands instead.

“He was keen to get to know staff and did all of his medical testing, then he went to the canteen with the club nutritionist, before having his pics taken in all three Villa kits and doing interviews with club TV.

Sharp contrast to life at United

“He smiled a lot and made a positive first impression on everyone who met him. He was down to earth, seemed eager to please and was genuinely excited at the new challenge ahead.”

All of this is in sharp contrast to how his United career ended with Amorim’s brutal comments supported by ex-professionals and journalists.

Someone like Alejandro Garnacho worked his socks off to repair the damage with the head coach but Rashford clearly did not, which explains the breakdown in relationship with Amorim.

Hopefully, Rashford can resurrect his career at Villa with the player reportedly already looking at earning a summer move to Barcelona despite Villa having the option to buy him outright at the end of his loan.

INEOS will be pleased as this will provide them the chance to recoup a larger fee from his sale, all of which will constitute pure profit given his homegrown status.
