The Red Devils have played three times this pre-season, with Michael Carrick’s options swelling ahead of their blockbuster clash against Paris Saint-Germain next weekend.

The players who were involved in the final and third-place playoff are yet to return, and the list includes Lisandro Martinez, Kobbie Mainoo, and the Mancunian.

INEOS have tried to sell him, but Barcelona opted against triggering his buy option, while Bayern Munich have stayed away due to the Englishman’s wage demands.

The head coach is open to working with the forward again, and the 20-time English league champions are set to welcome him back during the training camp at Maynooth.

As per the BBC, “If his return to United is in line with the club’s other World Cup players, who have all come back about three weeks after their final game in the tournament, he will be involved in next week’s Maynooth training camp in the Republic of Ireland.”

It will be interesting to see when the 28-year-old returns to the pitch. Leeds will be the next game at Croke Park, while an intriguing tie against AC Milan awaits.

That would see Marcus Rashford come face to face with Ruben Amorim, the coach who kicked him out of Old Trafford in the first place.

Uncertain future of Marcus Rashford

It is established that United and the player would prefer to go their separate ways this summer, but INEOS are reluctant to sanction another loan.

So far, permanent offers have been few and far between, and the sides who are ready to break the bank for the England international are in Turkiye and the Middle East.

Marcus Rashford does not want to move to either location at this stage of his career. United will wait until late in the window to see if anything develops elsewhere.

Carrick needs reinforcements out wide, and with Crysencio Summerville and Iliman Ndiaye now out of the reckoning, United could do with the Carrington graduate.

Carrick’s other left wing options

Other than Marcus Rashford, the squad only has Matheus Cunha and Patrick Dorgu who can play in that position. But both are not specialists.

Wonderkids Tynan Thompson and Enzo Kana-Biyik could emerge as potential options should Marcus Rashford leave before the new campaign.
