Marcus Rashford is expected to miss the rest of Aston Villa’s season with a hamstring injury.

The on-loan forward was not included in the squad that lost to Crystal Palace in the FA Cup semi-finals on Saturday evening. Rashford is currently undergoing tests on the extent of the issue but it is believed he will not feature against for Aston Villa across the run-in.

It’s a huge blow to Unai Emery, as Villa target Champions League qualification. Rashford has impressed since joining on loan from Manchester United in January, scoring four times and providing six assists across all competitions.

According to The Athletic, Rashford will do his rehabilitation work at Aston Villa as he looks to recover in time for England’s fixtures in June. The Three Lions face Andorra in World Cup qualification and a friendly with Senegal in the summer.

It’s unclear whether Rashford’s season-ending injury means he has played his final game for Aston Villa. The club’s loan deal includes a permanent £40m option to sign the 27-year-old, though neither club or player have made public their intent.
