Hansi Flick recently officially renewed his contract with FC Barcelona, thus extending his commitment with the Catalan club, and bringing more calm and stability to the team. However, things are starkly different with the Catalans’ arch-rivals, Real Madrid, where there is going to be another change in management in the coming few days.

Their current coach, Alvaro Arbeloa, is expected to step down after the last La Liga game, and with every passing day, it is becoming increasingly certain that Jose Mourinho would be his successor at the Madrid bench.

Meanwhile, rumours are already beginning to emerge about some of the players the Portuguese coach would like to bring with him for this new project.

In this regard, reports from England recently claimed that one of the players Mourinho wants at Real Madrid is none other than Marcus Rashford, who is currently playing for Barcelona on loan from Manchester United.

The Portuguese coach reportedly maintains a very good relationship with the English winger from their time together at Manchester United between 2016 and 2019, and some reports even suggested Mourinho would love to reunite with the player in Madrid, not only because of his qualities, but also because such a move would create a stir at Barcelona.

However, according to Mundo Deportivo, Rashford has no intention of entertaining such a possibility. In fact, sources close to the player have reportedly told MD that the winger remains fully focused on continuing at Barcelona beyond this season.

The English attacker is said to be prioritising a stay at Camp Nou and has already instructed his entourage to work only towards finding a formula for him to remain at the Blaugrana club. As things stand, he is not considering any other destination, not even a return to Manchester United, where he still remains under contract until 2028.

Still, Barcelona are aware that keeping him will not be easy. The main problem continues to be the financial side of the operation, as Manchester United are still holding on to the €30 million purchase option included in the original loan agreement.

Furthermore, the Premier League side is currently not too keen on negotiating another simple loan deal, while there are also other clubs interested in the player, including Aston Villa.

Thus, while Rashford’s priority appears to be very clear for now, it remains to be seen whether Barcelona will actually be able to find the financial room needed to keep him at the club beyond this season.
