Enzo Maresca has admitted there is always pressure at Chelsea ahead of the club’s Champions League shootout with Nottingham Forest.

Chelsea travel to the City Ground on the final weekend of the Premier League campaign with both teams still in contention for a top-five finish.

A win for Chelsea will be enough to secure a place in next season’s Champions League, given their vastly superior goal difference over Aston Villa.

However, defeat could see Chelsea drop to seventh, if Villa also get a positive result. There is just three points between third-placed Manchester City and Nottingham Forest in seventh ahead of the final fixtures.

Maresca said earlier this season that Champions League qualification was the target and admits there is always pressure to succeed at Stamford Bridge.

“The minute you join Chelsea you feel the pressure,” he said at his pre-match press conference.

“You don’t need to play these kind of games to feel more pressure. I’ve felt pressure since I’ve joined the club because it is a club where you have to win games. We won many games this season but we need one more.”

Maresca keen to analyse Chelsea’s poor away form

Chelsea have the third-best home record in the Premier League this season but have been plagued by inconsistency on the road. The Blues have lost seven times away from home and Maresca has said he will use the summer to address their issues.

“It is something for sure, during the short break, we have to analyse. I also said many times I like to analyse game by game. Sometimes we played away and we didn’t deserve to lose or even draw. But for sure if we struggle away, there is a reason why, and we are going to use the break to understand the reason why.

“On the other side, at home, we won almost all the games. So, there is also a good part as well.”
