Maresca says he is not thinking about charges against Man City | OneFootball

New Manchester City boss Enzo Maresca has insisted that the Premier League’s 115 charges against the club are “not a concern” for him.

The charges for allegedly breaching the league’s financial rules were first levelled at the club back in February 2023, with the hearing concluding in December 2024. However, the outcome of the case is still yet to be disclosed.

Manchester City have denied any wrongdoing.

“No, to be honest,” Maresca answered when asked if the charges were a concern for him when taking the job. “The only thing I can say is that three years ago, the treble season, I was here. And there were the same words about this kind of problem.

“In three years, it’s still the same, so nothing happened. I don’t have anything to say because it’s something that is there.”

City’s new manager had been working at the club as Pep Guardiola’s assistant when the Premier League’s charges were initially announced. He has now returned to the Etihad to take over after Guardiola stepped down at the end of last season.

Maresca continued: “But again, the only thing I can say is that the way the organisation is working is to show how serious they are, how good they are, bringing titles and more things.”

City have always remained firm in their denial of the alleged financial breaches. Chairman Khaldoon Al Mubarak recently asserted: “Let me be as consistent as I’ve always been. Until we have a ruling, I can’t say much.

“Once we have a ruling, believe me, we’re going to have a wonderful sit down together. And I’ll say everything I’ve wanted to say for the last three years.”
