Mark Hudson makes Cardiff City transfer embargo claim following club’s draw with QPR | OneFootball

Cardiff City manager Mark Hudson has admitted that the club are working hard behind the scenes to get their transfer embargo lifted.

As it stands, the Bluebirds will be unable to purchase players in the January transfer window.

Cardiff were placed under an embargo earlier this month after the Court of Arbitration for Sport dismissed the club’s appeal over paying the first instalment of the Emiliano Sala transfer fee which equated to £5.3m.

The Bluebirds have appealed the outcome of this hearing to the Swiss Federal Court and a judgment is set to be reached at the end of January, or at the start of February.

If Cardiff do not win their appeal, this particular embargo is set to stay in place for the next three transfer windows.

Currently 20th in the Championship standings, the Bluebirds managed to pick up a point in their clash with Queens Park Rangers yesterday.

Following this particular clash, Hudson admitted that things are looking positive regarding the possibility of the embargo being lifted.

Speaking to Wales Online, Hudson said: “We are in constant dialogue.

“They are in conversations at the moment and there is a lot of stuff going on behind the scenes.

“We will have to see what happens, but fingers crossed, it’s looking positive.”

The Verdict

Cardiff will be hoping to find a resolution to what is a major issue heading into a transfer window.

Whereas the Bluebirds will be keeping an eye on potential targets, they cannot step up pursuits unless their embargo is lifted.

If Cardiff are unable to sign players next month as a result of this embargo, they may end up being dragged into a battle for survival in the Championship unless their performances improve.

The Bluebirds are only two points clear of the relegation zone and have failed to win any of their last five league games.

Set to take on Coventry City on Thursday, Cardiff will be determined to secure a positive result on their travels.
