Manchester City will entertain Newcastle United at the Etihad Stadium this Wednesday night as they look to secure a good result at home in their EFL Cup semi-finals second leg clash. The Mancunian giants were held to a frustrating 2-2 draw away at Tottenham Hotspur recently, so they would be keen on getting back to winning ways in midweek.
Pep Guardiola will set his men up in a 4-1-4-1 formation and is expected to make a few changes to his starting XI for this clash. Omar Marmoush could get the nod to lead the line for Man City up top, while Erling Haaland gets a rest on the bench.
James Trafford will play in goal for Man City as he looks to keep a clean sheet at the Etihad in midweek. Abdukodir Khusanov will function alongside Marc Guehi at the heart of the Man City backline as they look to keep things solid at the back during the 90 minutes.
Rayan Ait-Nouri will fill in as the left-back, while Matheus Nunes hopes to shine on the other flank as the right-back. Both of them will have to pick and choose their moments to join in on the attack.
Nathan Ake and Max Alleyne will offer cover for the defensive positions on the bench.

Rodri will anchor the midfield for Man City as he looks to make life tough for the opposition at the centre of the park.
Phil Foden and Bernardo Silva will function as the box-to-box midfielders. Their main focus would be to dictate the tempo of the game inside the Newcastle half.
Nico O’Reilly will fill in as the left-sided wide player, while Antoine Semenyo hopes to prove his worth on the right flank. Both of them will have to get in behind the opponent’s backline at every chance they can get.
Tijjani Reijnders and Nico Gonzalez will be available for selection on the bench as they await their chance to impress in the second 45 minutes if required.
Omar Marmoush will spearhead Guardiola’s attack up top. He has to find a way to cause some headaches for the opposition centre-backs in midweek.
Erling Haaland will be rested on the bench and might come on to influence the game in the final quarter if needed.
