On the eve of PSG v Slovan Bratislava, captain Marquinhos avoided tipping a favourite for the Ballon d'Or 2026, expressing only that he hopes the prize stays in Paris.

According to L'Équipe, the shortlist is due on Tuesday afternoon, with PSG boasting the current holder, Ousmane Dembélé, after the club won the Champions League in May.

The Brazil defender declined to choose among his team-mates, saying the squad has many top players and joking that he was not even sure whether he would be on the list.

He stressed it is an individual award and, after significant team honours, reiterated his hope that a PSG player is recognised.

Last year, PSG placed nine players among the 30 nominees, equalling Real Madrid’s record.
