Paris Saint-Germain left the Puskas Arena around 11.30pm after clinching a second Champions League title, 1-1 then 4-3 on penalties. Celebrations moved to their Budapest hotel. According to L'Équipe, it was exuberant but calmer than last year’s Munich bus mayhem.
Sporting adviser Luis Campos, trophy in hand, signalled one, two, and a tilt at a third. With roughly 13 hours before a Qatar Airways Champions League charter, players, families and guests gathered at the Anantara Hotel.
A lounge was dressed in club colours and city projections read Back to Back. Nasser al-Khelaïfi dined privately before joining, with Nike president Elliott Hill present for sponsorship talks. Sir Alex Ferguson sent congratulations.
Players and staff wore Back2Back shirts with two stars, ate with families, and Hakimi filmed on a camcorder. Stewards had initially blocked relatives from the pitch, and Luis Enrique needed help from a club associate to reunite with his family.
A DJ turned the room into a dancefloor. Hakimi led Gala’s Freed From Desire on the mic and a euphoric Luis Enrique joined in. Marquinhos addressed the room, calling one title historic and two legendary, before chants for the coach.
Al-Khelaïfi told the group the aim was to reach the top and the mission to stay there, praising about 100 behind-the-scenes contributors and a family feel. The party lasted to about five am, with songs still on the bus to the airport. By midday they were boarding for Paris.
