L’Équipe report this evening that Marseille are looking to bring in Hellas Verona’s Ivan Ilić, with talks now underway with the Serie A club over the midfielder’s transfer.
The Champions League spot contenders are looking to reinforce this winter, having already brought in Ruslan Malinovskyi and missed out on the signing of Leandro Trossard, with Arsenal pipping them to the Belgian international.
Serbian defensive midfielder Ilić, who represented his country at the World Cup, is under contract with the Veneto side until 2026. The OM management are interested in his profile and Igor Tudor wants to reunite with him after having him under his orders last season. As a result, the club have stepped up talks for the midfielder and have reached an agreement over personal terms, as they look to move ahead of other potential contenders in Lazio and Napoli. A potential arrival next summer could be on the cards, with Ilić remaining in Italy on loan until the end of the campaign.
