Olympique de Marseille head into the international break in the relegation zone, only one point ahead of bottom side Le Havre AC. It all began with promise at the Vélodrome back in August, with a 4-0 win over RC Strasbourg Alsace.

However, Bruno Genesio’s men have yet to secure a single point since. Sunday night’s loss to Paris Saint-Germain in Le Classique was their fifth on the bounce in all competitions. For the first time in Marseille’s history, they have lost four of their first five games in Ligue 1, whilst, by losing five of their first six in all competitions, they have also made unwanted history.

Genesio is only the second manager in OM’s history, following Willy Kohut-André Gascard (back in 1938), to start life in the dugout at the Vélodrome with four defeats in his first five Ligue 1 games. He is the first to suffer five defeats in his first six in all competitions.
