Marseille centre-forward Elye Wahi (22) is edging closer to joining Eintracht Frankfurt as both clubs have reportedly reached an agreement, L’Equipe understands. The France U21 international is set to leave Les Phocéens after only six months in Southern France. Wahi joined Marseille from Lens in the summer for a fee of €25m with a further €5m in performance-related add-ons. The former Montpellier striker failed to establish himself, even losing his place in Roberto De Zerbi’s starting XI to Neal Maupay, brought in to be a back-up option.

L’Equipe adds that Frankfurt’s outlay to sign Wahi reportedly rises to €26m including add-ons. The Bundesliga side were looking to bolster their attacking options as Omar Marmoush signed today for Manchester City in an €80m deal. Wahi is expected to fly out to Germany this Friday to undergo a medical with Eintracht. He will therefore reunite with fellow France U21 international striker Hugo Ekitike, who also joined Eintracht when his playing time in France decreased.
