According to L’Équipe, tensions behind the scenes at Marseille have continued to intensify following an alleged altercation between assistant coach Jacques Abardonado and sporting coordinator Bob Tahri after OM’s 3-1 victory over Rennes on 17th May.
The report claims that Abardonado confronted Tahri over rumours portraying him as the “mole” within the Marseille dressing room, accusations which have also circulated heavily on social media in recent weeks. The situation reportedly escalated before several people intervened to separate the pair.Abardonado is said to believe that individuals close to former sporting advisor Medhi Benatia were behind the campaign against him. L’Équipe adds that the assistant coach has since considered leaving Marseille, feeling that his reputation has been seriously damaged. The affair is the latest chapter in a broader climate of mistrust and internal division that has reportedly affected the club over the past two seasons. Several current and former players, including Valentin Rongier, Geoffrey Kondogbia, and Benjamin Pavard, were allegedly previously suspected of leaking information externally.GFFN | George Boxall
