Speaking at a press conference on Thursday, Olympique de Marseille president Pablo Longoria has revealed that the club can further increase their ownership of Mason Greenwood’s economic rights in case of another qualification for the Champions League at the end of this season. The club own the player outright for sporting purposes, but Manchester United still hold a significant sell-on percentage which was reduced by 10% last season, after Marseille chose to increase their ownership rights of the player. “Regarding the contractual situation, OM holds 60% of the player’s economic rights and 100% of his sporting rights, with the possibility of increasing this to 65%,” said Longoria on Thursday afternoon, transcribed by Get French Football News. “In that case, we can add 5% for qualification to the Champions League.” This would leave Manchester United with 35% of the player’s economic rights.“We are very pleased with Mason’s progress,” added Longoria. “We know his talent, but the work that Roberto De Zerbi is doing with him is extraordinary.“The Englishman currently sits as top scorer of Ligue 1 so far this season, and has already scored 14 goals and provided four assists across 21 matches in all competitions so far this season.
