Marseille consider addressing problem position in January window

Whilst Olympique de Marseille are hot on the trail of leaders Paris Saint-Germain in Ligue 1, and are currently on track for progression in the UEFA Champions League, this is not a team without weakness.

There is one position in particular that has emerged as a slight problem for Roberto De Zerbi – the No.10 role. Whilst he wears the No.10 jersey, Mason Greenwood plays out on the right, and neither player who has played through the middle has entirely convinced.

Darryl Bakola assumed the role against Newcastle United in midweek, in what was his first start at professional level. He is more of a winger by trade, whilst the other two players tested are Angel Gomes and Matt O’Riley. Both are more at ease performing slightly deeper.

The No.10 position has therefore become slightly problematic for Marseille, who, according to L’Équipeare now looking to dip into the transfer market in January in order to address the issue.
