Marseille duo Igor Paixao and Amine Harit set for tests on injuries sustained in Le Classique | OneFootball

Igor Paixao and Amine Harit were both forced off in Sunday’s Le Classique defeat to Paris Saint-Germain (2-1). The Olympique de Marseille pair are now set for tests on their respective injuries, L’Équipe understands.

Paixao was withdrawn in the first half, replaced by Angel Gomes, who went on to score for OM. Post-match, Bruno Genesio suggested that it was an ankle injury that the Brazilian had sustained, however, L’Équipe understands that it is the top of the fibula that was affected during an awkward landing. His medical tests are scheduled to take place on Tuesday.

Genesio also said that Harit was merely struggling with cramp, however, L’Équipe understands that the playmaker is actually suffering from a muscular issue, which will require an MRI later this week. Both are key players for a Marseille side that, due to their financial issues, are sorely lacking in squad depth. Absences of any considerable length would represent big blows.
