Olympique de Marseille are considering a move for Paris FC attacker Ilan Kebbal (28) as they look to rebuild their depleted forward line, according to La Provence.
Marseille have reached August without completing a single signing, with the club currently focused on raising funds and reducing their wage bill before strengthening Bruno Genesio’s squad. However, sporting director Grégory Lorenzi is continuing to work on potential arrivals while awaiting the green light to proceed.
Kebbal has emerged as one of the options being studied after producing arguably the best season of his career with Paris FC. The Franco-Algerian registered nine goals and five assists in 31 appearances during the previous campaign.
The Marseille-born attacker could potentially replace Mason Greenwood on the right flank following the departures of the England international, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Hamed Junior Traorè. Discussions have already taken place between OM and Kebbal, although no agreement has been reached with either the player or Paris FC.
A move would represent a homecoming for Kebbal, who began his footballing education at Marseille-based club Burel before spells with Marignane-Gignac Côte Bleue.
However, several obstacles remain. Kebbal is under contract with Paris FC until 2028 and is valued highly by new manager Liam Rosenior. The capital club are reportedly reluctant to sell and could demand a fee of around €10m.GFFN | George Boxall
