Marseille are fine-tuning in Marbella ahead of their Ligue 1 trip to Lorient on Saturday at 17:00.

According to L'Équipe, after intense sessions on Tuesday and Wednesday, the squad eased off on Thursday morning. Friday is set for tactical work in Spain before flying to Brittany for the club’s 30th league match.

Habib Beye will address the media via videoconference at midday, mirroring Roberto De Zerbi’s approach on 30 January from Clairefontaine. The Marseille coach has valued this second Marbella camp, particularly the quality of the meticulously kept pitches.

He will be without Facundo Medina, suspended, plus Geoffrey Kondogbia, hamstring, and Nayef Aguerd for the Lorient trip. Kondogbia and Aguerd have stayed at La Commanderie for treatment, and the Morocco international’s situation is described as complex.

Aguerd suffered pubis and adductor issues with pain radiating to the bone, underwent surgery in mid-March, and still feels discomfort. The matter was reviewed on Wednesday in a follow-up meeting between OM’s medical staff and his national team doctor, Christophe Baudot, as they did in November.

A return for Aguerd in an OM shirt this season appears unlikely, and any comeback with Morocco, with the World Cup in mind, will be handled with extreme caution. He has played much of this campaign in discomfort, including part of the AFCON while taking anti-inflammatories.
