Roma must speed up the deal for Mason Greenwood.

Yesterday, UEFA announced that Marseille are in serious financial difficulty and need to sell and raise funds, preferably by June 30th.

This is why the Giallorossi must make a move for the English winger if they want to bring him to the capital in the coming weeks.

There’s a catch. Roma, too, would have to cash in rather than spend before the beginning of July, a situation that doesn’t quite mesh with OM’s need to raise funds this month.

Roma could come close to Marseille’s demands and have an opening.

As La Gazzetta dello Sport reports, OM could even accept an offer of €45 million plus €5 million in bonuses for Greenwood. This is slightly lower than the initial asking price (€55 million), which would still be a very costly investment for the Friedkins.

The French club is also expected to hand over 40% of the sale to Manchester United.

Roma cannot forget the need to sell, perhaps even a top-class player, to try to settle the books and facilitate the deal for the 2001-born player.

Otherwise, the risks could multiply. Greenwood’s price could rise to €60 million, and competition is poised to step up, creating a transfer market auction that the Giallorossi club would prefer not to participate in. Atlético Madrid, for example, continues to monitor the Englishman’s situation…
