Marseille have lost their initial appeal against a ban on their supporters travelling to Saturday’s game at Paris FC, and will now take the case to the Conseil d’État on Friday afternoon. If they fail again, the presence of Marseille fans at the stadium is still feared.

The match is at Stade Jean-Bouin at 5pm. Authorities have prohibited the trip for visiting fans, as they have for the Parc des Princes the following weekend, and the club challenged both orders in court. L'Équipe reports that the fixture is expected to be rated level four out of five by the Division nationale de la lutte contre le hooliganisme.

After the Paris Administrative Court dismissed the case on Thursday, the club moved to contest the prefectural and ministerial decrees before the Conseil d’État.

Paris FC have sold about 4,500 tickets to the general public and fear that Marseille supporters could still be in the ground if the ban remains in force on matchday. The home club has tried to restrict sales to existing customers and identified home fans, but not all seats were sold through that route.

Mixed seating of local and visiting fans has already been seen at Jean-Bouin this season. Against Lyon on 29 October, a 3-3 draw, two decrees also banned away travel, yet several hundred Lyon fans were present and celebrated each goal. With Marseille, the perceived risk of disorder is higher.
