Olympique de Marseille are nearing an agreement to sign RC Lens defender Facundo Medina (26), according to a report from Foot Mercato.

Marseille, who next season will return to the UEFA Champions League, have made strengthening their defence a priority this summer. A priority target, in the form of Medina, was identified, and they are now closing in on their man.

The Argentine was given the green light to leave the club this summer by the former hierarchy, which has been reformed in the wake of the conclusion of the Ligue 1 season. However, the changes above don’t look to have changed things.

The centre-back only wants to join OM, as per Foot Mercato, and he should sign a deal that will run until 2030. The deal should be finalised for a fee of around €20m. At the Vélodrome, he will link up with international teammate Leonardo Balerdi, who captains the side.
