According to a report from Reuters, Olympique de Marseille owner Frank McCourt has announced that he is teaming up with Reddit co-founder Alexis Ohanian in a bid to acquire TikTok’s US operations. The US businessman, who has owned Marseille since 2016, has revealed that Ohanian would be supporting him as a strategic advisor to acquire the social media platform.Ohanian is a venture capitalist investor and the husband of former world No.1 tennis player Serena Williams. “He has a vast portfolio of experience… in the current state of social media and, I believe, a deep understanding of how it is evolving,” McCourt said about Ohanian to Reuters. The owner of Marseille, who are currently sat second in Ligue 1 and hope to qualify for next season’s Champions League, submitted his bid for TikTok in early January, ahead of the deadline set by US president Donald Trump.
