Marseille will begin their Ligue 1 campaign with an away trip to Brest who qualified for the Champions League last term. With Roberto De Zerbi now at the helm, Les Olympiens will be hoping to replicate the feat achieved by Les Pirates last season.
L’Équipe reports that the former Brighton manager is set to hand several players their OM debuts in what will be an almost unrecognisable team from Jean-Louis Gasset’s final game in charge. Gerónimo Rulli will make his debut between the sticks and Derek Cornelius is set to be the other debutant in the defensive third of the pitch after his move from Malmo.
Pierre-Emile Højberg is also set to make his competitive debut for Marseille in midfield after making his debut in preseason against Sunderland. In attack, a further two debuts look set to be handed with Mason Greenwood and Elye Wahi to start after their respective moves from Manchester United and Lens.
Gerónimo Rulli – Amir Murillo, Derek Cornelius, Leonardo Balerdi, Bamo Meïté – Quentin Merlin, Pierre-Emile Højberg – Mason Greenwood, Amine Harit, Luis Henrique – Elye Wahi.
