Olympique de Marseille are hoping to offload several players who spent the second half of the 2024-2025 season out on loan—and Azzedine Ounahi (25) is high on that list. The Moroccan international enjoyed a late resurgence at Panathinaikos, but a permanent move to Greece remains far from guaranteed due to financial constraints. As Marseille work to meet fiscal targets set by both the DNCG and UEFA ahead of the June 30th accounting deadline, President Pablo Longoria has made it clear: the club must inject significant revenue through player sales. While a €20m+ deal for Luis Henrique (set to join Inter Milan) is reportedly in the works, the future of players like Ounahi is far less straightforward. The midfielder has impressed in the Greek Super League under Rui Vitória, registering five goals and seven assists in 37 appearances across all competitions. More importantly, his creative influence and ball-carrying have made him a fan favourite in Athens. Vitória has made no secret of his desire to keep the Moroccan at the club.Yet according to La Provence, the €11.5m option to buy is out of reach for a Panathinaikos side that, despite securing a place in the second qualifying round of the Champions League, lacks the financial backing to pay it. The Greek side are exploring ways to retain Ounahi, including a second loan or a discounted transfer, but OM are reportedly reluctant to compromise.GFFN | George Boxall
