Olympique de Marseille have stepped up their interest in CJ Egan-Riley (22) and have submitted a contract offer for the England youth international, according to Foot Mercato.
RC Strasbourg Alsace had looked to be the frontrunners to sign Egan-Riley, whose contract at Burnley expires this summer. The Lancashire club have been engaged in attempts to extend the defender’s current deal, albeit to no avail, whilst West Ham United have also been touted as a suitor.
However, Foot Mercato announced earlier on Wednesday that Marseille had entered the race to sign the centre-back. That interest is very serious as the publication now reports that a contract offer has been submitted.
Egan-Riley has been offered a four-year deal by OM, who are looking to conclude a deal for the defender in the coming days. The player himself is also interested in the move, which could see him link up with compatriot Angel Gomes, also on the verge of joining Les Phocéens.
