Marseille are said to walk away from any deal with Lorient regarding wantaway striker Bamba Dieng (22) if Les Merlus’ best goalscorer Terem Moffi (23) does not sign for Les Phocéens, according to a report from Foot Mercato. OM are reportedly ready to include Senegalese striker Dieng in a deal in order to ease the arrival of Nigerian forward Moffi to the Vélodrome. Dieng has already agreed personal terms with Ligue 1’s seventh-placed outfit and has flown to Lorient to undergo his medical.
However, Moffi currently has no intention of signing for Marseille, even after Lorient and OM found an agreement for his signing. Ligue 1’s second-highest goalscorer is set on joining Nice, for whom he has already agreed personal terms. The situation is said to be frustrating Marseille’s management, with president Pablo Longoria feeling compelled to ring Moffi to convince him of the move. OM could pull out of any deal with Lorient if Moffi does not change his mind. Fortunately for Les Phocéens, Dieng does not lack suitors as Premier League relegation-battling outfits Everton and Southampton would be ready to enter talks with Marseille regarding the signing of the Senegalese international, who scored at the World Cup against hosts Qatar.
