Marseille are, as things stand, unlikely to make Benjamin Pavard’s loan from Inter Milan permanent.

La Gazzetta dello Sport suggests that OM are hesitant to trigger the €15m purchase clause after the defender arrived in the final hours of the summer window.

Pavard, 29, has made 29 appearances since joining, though form has wavered and he has recently been dropped.

He did not play against Paris FC and was named on the bench for the key meeting with RC Lens.

The position could yet change before the end of the season.

If Marseille decline the option, Inter do not wish to keep him due to his high salary, which would create a dilemma for the Serie A side.

Should he return to northern Italy, Internazionale would look for another destination for the defender.
