Marseille’s Amine Gouiri suffers dislocated shoulder

Olympique de Marseille may have to do without their centre-forward, Amine Gouiri (25), for the coming weeks after the Algerian suffered a dislocated shoulder while on international duty.

Gouiri was involved in a collision with Uganda goalkeeper Omar Magoola in the 85th minute of Algeria’s 2-1 win in FIFA World Cup qualifying on Tuesday. Gouiri, who suffered a shoulder injury in September, too, had his right shoulder popped back in following the collision and left the field on a stretcher.

The OM forward also left the pitch with a bandage on his head, having hit his head on the ground on the way down. As a result, the concussion protocol has been invoked, and he will certainly miss the weekend’s game against Le Havre AC.

Since injuring the same shoulder in September, Gouiri had been wearing protection, however, it could do little to withstand the force of Magoola’s clumsy challenge. The Marseille forward’s period of absence has not yet been determined.
