Olympique de Marseille’s Renan Lodi (25) looks set to complete a surprise switch to Saudi Arabian side Al-Hilal, according to Foot Mercato.

Lodi only joined Marseille from Atletico Madrid in the summer, and he has quickly established himself as the first-choice left-back with Les Phocéens, however, his time at the club is set to come to a premature end. Having joined for €13m, OM will make a considerable profit on the player, with Al-Hilal set to pay €22m up-front plus €3m in bonuses. It will also be a financially beneficial move for Brazil international Lodi, who according to Foot Mercato, will triple his current salary, at least.

Marseille to miss out on Doig?

Whilst Lodi is nearing an exit from the Vélodrome, incomings are being targeted. Negotiations to sign Adrien Truffert from Stade Rennais are ongoing. Regardless of Lodi’s exit, OM were in the market for a left-back, and a deal for Josh Doig looked on the verge of completion.

However, Sassuolo lodged a last-minute bid to scupper the Scottish defender’s move to the Vélodrome. Whilst Doig himself would prefer a move to Marseille, Hellas Verona have been determined to send the player to Sassuolo, who came in with a higher bid. According to Le Parisien, it now looks more likely that Doig will join Sassuolo rather than make the move to Ligue 1.
