According to SuperDepor.com, Martín Demichelis is poised to return to Europe to take charge of Mallorca.

The move would come as River endure a crisis following Marcelo Gallardo’s resignation. He is due to take charge of his final match on Thursday night, when River host Banfield at the Monumental.

Demichelis managed River from early 2023 to mid 2024, winning three trophies, Liga Profesional and Trofeo de Campeones 2023 and Supercopa Argentina 2024. He faced heavy criticism from supporters and left after one and a half years.

Across that spell he oversaw 87 matches, with 52 wins, 18 draws and 17 defeats.

Mallorca would be the fourth club of his coaching career. He previously led Bayern Munich II in 2021-2022 and Monterrey in 2024-2025.

Mallorca are 18th in LaLiga on 24 points, currently in the relegation zone.
