According to the Athletic, the deal was signed on 1 September and runs until 2028 and makes the 24-year-old the club’s highest paid player.

“My story is a bit different maybe, as I moved around different clubs since I was 16. At Arsenal, since the first day, I’ve felt great and this is definitely my home now,” the Norwegian midfielders said.

“I just want to say thanks to everyone working at the club and of course, our fantastic supporters. I will continue to give everything to bring success to this club in the years to come.”

Named the club’s Player of the Season for 2023/24, Ødegaard scored again in midweek as Arsenal marked their return to the Champions League with a 4-0 win over PSV Eindhoven.

The extension follows new deals for Bukayo Saka, Gabriel Martinelli and William Saliba as Arsenal look to secure the futures of their most important players.
