Martin O’Neill has admitted Celtic need to “rethink and reset” after suffering their third defeat in the space of seven days.

The Hoops were beaten 1-0 by Rangers at Celtic Park on Sunday, with Ryan Naderi’s first-half goal enough to secure victory for Derek McInnes’ side.

It was Celtic’s second derby defeat in a week after last Sunday’s 3-0 Premier Sports Cup loss at Ibrox, while a 3-1 Europa League defeat to Ferencvaros came in between.
Celtic remain two points clear at the top of the Premiership, but their sudden downturn in form has left O’Neill with plenty to consider during the international break.
“Of course [it has been a bruising week],” he said on Sky Sports. “I don’t think there is anybody pretty pleased with what has happened. It has been a pretty tough week for the football club.
“As history proves, it fights back from these things. It has been a tough old week for us to lose three games, but we are still two points in front.
“When the players come back from international duty, we will have a rethink.”
O’Neill acknowledged Celtic’s recent run is a concern but stopped short of describing the situation as a disaster.
He added: “It’s concerning, of course.
“Is it a blip, is it a disaster? I don’t think it is a disaster. I think we have to rethink and reset.”
