Martinez Gets 8.5, Rogers With 8 | Aston Villa Players Rated In Solid Win Vs Newcastle United

Aston Villa will lock horns with Newcastle United at St. James’ Park earlier today as they hoped to earn a good result on the road in the Premier League. The Villans made a decent start to the game and got their noses ahead in the 19th minute when Emi Buendia found the back of the net. Unai Emery’s men went into the half-time break 1-0 up on the scoreline.
Ollie Watkins killed the game off in the 88th minute as Aston Villa secured a solid 2-0 win away from home.
Let’s take a look at how each Aston Villa player fared during the clash against the Magpies.
Martinez made his fair share of saves at the back and did enough to earn a clean sheet this afternoon.
RB: Matty Cash – 7/10
He cleared the danger when he could, but struggled to influence the game going forward.
CB: Ezri Konsa – 7/10
He cleared his lines when needed and was tidy with his ball distribution.
CB: Pau Torres – 7/10
Torres didn’t do much wrong when defending inside his half and was a strong presence in the air.

LB: Ian Maatsen – 7/10
He performed his defensive duties well and offered very little inside the opponent’s half.
CM: Amadou Onana – 7/10
Onana caught the eye at times on both ends of the field.
CM: Youri Tielemans – 7.5/10
He anchored the midfield with conviction and made two good chances in the final third.
RW: Jadon Sancho – 6.5/10
Sancho made one good run with the ball and was replaced in the 58th minute.
CAM: Morgan Rogers – 8/10
He worked hard defensively and was a constant menace in the final third. Rogers ended the game with an assist to his name.
LW: Emiliano Buendia – 8/10
Buendia was a constant menace in the final third and scored the opener in the 19th minute.
ST: Ollie Watkins – 8/10
He was a real threat up top and managed to get his name on the scoresheet late in the game.
ST: Leon Bailey – 6/10
His impact on the game was minimal.
CM: Lamare Bogarde – 6/10
He struggled to influence the game.
LB: Lucas Digne – 7/10
Digne caught the eye at times on the left flank and managed to secure an assist.
