Andrée Jeglertz heaped praise of City’s attacking play after a ruthless 6-0 Barclays Women’s Super League win over Leicester.

The Blues took a four-goal lead in at the break thanks to goals from Khadija ‘Bunny’ Shaw and Yui Hasegawa either side of a Vivianne Miedema brace.

Further strikes from Kerolin and Aoba Fujino then set the seal on the victory after the break, as City moved 11 points clear at the WSL summit for 48 hours at least.

And Jeglertz couldn’t fault his team’s goalscoring exploits, with City now having scored 47 times in just 16 WSL matches this season.

“Our attacking play was marvellous throughout the whole game. Fantastic,” he reflected.

“They challenged us a couple of times in the first half with some transition moments. We knew about that, but our attacking play and how we combine, how we create scoring chances [was excellent].

“Players coming into the game and continue to bring the energy. Wow. I’m really impressed and proud of the performance.”

The victory maintained our 100% home record in the WSL this season and was also the perfect response to a frustrating 1-0 defeat to Arsenal last weekend.

Despite City appearing to have put the game beyond doubt at half-time, we pressed on to record our biggest win since November 2023, and our Head Coach emphasised the team’s mentality to always push for more.

He added: “That has been, and we talked about it earlier, but that is something about this mentality that we are never pleased.

“We want something more all the time and that’s such an important thing for a team who wants to achieve something, to never be and settled down.

“Just finding new ways and also showing the quality of the squad that even if you take out players who have done a very good game and you bring in some other players and they keep on pushing the level.”
