Marvin Emmanuel has signed a one-season deal with Le Puy, turning professional at 30 after 48 in 51 across his past two seasons. According to L'Équipe, he steps into Ligue 3 with a singular path.

He juggled football with jobs as delivery driver, petrol station attendant and bowling alley employee, often up at 5am. At Oissel in 2019-2021 he sometimes slept in his van before training.

The dream had seemed to drift and he was told opportunities shrink after 27. Now he has his break.

His rise quickened at Racing from 2023 to 2026, a switch inside bringing 23 goals then 25 and the National 3 title. He says things clicked once he relaxed.

Sporting director Julien Converso, who tracked him from Évreux, highlights his movement and two-foot finishing. An atypical profile who skipped an academy, he fits the club’s outlook.

He now looks to Karim Benzema, having grown up admiring Thierry Henry and Didier Drogba. Ex-captain Ahmed Ibrahimi recalls a clinical, technical, fairly quick forward, serious yet cheerful.

Under head coach Stéphane Dief he is set for a two-striker system, seeing himself as a complementary, more polished profile. One quirk remains, Macron slides kept from Évreux.

Rouen-born Emmanuel has circled the Normandy away days. He is aiming for around 10 goals and could start on Friday against Bastia at 20:45.
