Mary Fowler named Australia Young Women’s Footballer of the Year for record third time | OneFootball

Manchester City’s Mary Fowler has been named Australia Young Women’s Footballer of the Year for a record third time.

The 22-year-old was voted for the award by her teammates on the Australia international team.

Mary Fowler is an exciting Manchester City forward who has shone for club and country in the past five years.

The young star has now been named Australia Young Women’s Footballer of the Year on three occasions after picking up the prize in 2022 and 2024.

Despite her season getting cut short as early as April, Fowler still managed to net 10 goals for City in all competitions with eight assists on top of that.

Fowler’s season was ended early after she suffered a devastating ACL injury.

City’s superstar is still yet to return to the WSL since having surgery. Fowler is expected to make her return to the pitch before 2026.

After she was given her award, Fowler said: “It means a lot for [the players] to be able to recognise the work that I’m doing and the work I’m putting into my football.

“Last year was challenging for me because we had so many more games and injuries in the team so in a way it pushed me to have an opportunity to step up.

“As a whole, I’m really happy with the consistency I had with my performances. Every game, I really tried to put my all into it and have good energy for the team.”

Despite her injury, Fowler secured a new contract with City at the beginning of October.

Fowler is hoping to return for Australia before the 2026 Women’s Asian Cup which takes place in March.
