Finn Harps’ League of Ireland clash with Sligo Rovers this weekend wasn’t the most memorable game of football the world has ever seen.
But those in attendance at Finn Park will probably never forget it for one reason in particular.
According to the Sligo Rovers official Twitter account, Harps’ mascot Harper (who is supposed to be a dog, apparently) was given his marching orders for pretending to save shots behind the goal.
Mascots aren’t supposed to look dejected, but this image is just heartbreaking …
27 min. The Finn Harps mascot has been sent off for pretending to save shots behind our goal (0-0)–
But Harper can perhaps take comfort from the fact the mascot community stands in solidarity with him, as this tweet from LA Galaxy mascot Cozmo demonstrates.
Whether Harper will now face a suspension remains to be seen, however.
