He scored 35 goals in 129 appearances for the Red Devils before getting into legal trouble which saw his time at the club come to an end.

Life after United

After the charges were dropped against him, United still decided to part ways with the forward and firstly sent him out on loan to Getafe before selling him permanently to Olympique de Marseille.

The forward thoroughly impressed last year, scoring 22 goals in all competitions. He has got off to a fantastic start this season too, scoring eight goals and providing four assists in 12 matches.

Interest across Europe

The 24 year old’s fine form has meant that numerous top clubs across Europe’s finest leagues have been tracking his progress.

It is said that FC Barcelona have been sending scouts to his games as they plan to link him up with his former teammate at United, Marcus Rashford.

La Liga giants Real Madrid have also been touted as a possible destination with their scouts keeping an eye on the player’s progress.

Tottenham interest

TEAMtalk reports that, “Mason Greenwood’s remarkable revival at Marseille has ignited a transfer tug-of-war, with Tottenham among several top European clubs circling the 24-year-old forward.”

Sources have revealed that Barcelona currently lead the race but that Spurs have registered firm interest in the former Premier League player.

West Ham United are also said to be keen on doing a deal for the versatile forward. It is said that, “Spurs want another dynamic player in the squad who can drive and add legs, while West Ham see Greenwood as a player who can turn around their season and form.”

Any deal would not be easy though as “the optics of bringing him back to England are hard to surmount and West Ham would struggle to convince him as he wants to play in the top competitions.”

Atletico Madrid also hold an interest in the player, as do Saudi Pro League giants like Al-Hilal and Al-Nassr. Nonetheless, it is thought that Greenwood would not entertain offers outside of Europe as he is desperate to keep playing Champions League football.
